Cognitive Behavioural Chairwork from the Inside Out: A self-practice/self-reflection retreat.

Charney Manor, Oxford (UK): 27th - 29th November 2020

Research indicates that one of the best ways for therapists to learn and refine their therapy skills is through self-practice and self-reflection (SP/SR). This workshop offers participants the unique opportunity to learn CBT chairwork in an evidence-based manner: from the ‘inside out’. This will involve practicing chairwork in pairs and then reflecting on the experience in a meaningful, structured manner. Participants will have the opportunity to work on either personal or professional issues under the supervision of the facilitators.

Participants will be introduced to a range of chairwork styles including empty-chair, two-chair, multi-chair, and role-play techniques. Key interventions which will be introduced during the workshop include intrapersonal role-play (voice dialogue), compassion-focused dialogues for self-criticism, schema-focused dialogues for self-criticism, multiple selves, behavioural rehearsal, and ‘unfinished business’.

This retreat will be held in the beautiful Charney Manor in Oxford. Bookings include two nights accommodation and meals (full-board).
